There are a number of treatment options available to achieve your desired results including; teeth whiteningtooth coloured fillingsorthodontics (Invisalign®), veneerscrowns or a combination.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns

Crowns are restorations that sit on top of a natural tooth, they aim to restore teeth back to its original shape and strength. Crowns are recommended when a tooth is fractured, had a root filling or is discoloured. Crowns come in all different materials and the dentist will help advise which is the best.

Completing a crown normally takes two visits, in the first visit the dentist will prepare the tooth for the crown by shaping the tooth, taking a mould of your tooth and placing a temporary crown to protect the prepared tooth. The second visit is to fit the crown that the lab has made especially to fit your tooth.

Bridges

Bridges sure used to replace one or more missing teeth. Bridges are excellent at restoring appearance, function and preventing other teeth moving into the gaps. Bridges are fixed into the mouth using the teeth either side for anchorage, therefore can not be removed for cleaning. To encourage longevity and health a complimentary Hygienest visit will be provided following placement of your bridge. Bridges come in a variety of materials and shades, that can be matched to the existing teeth to give a natural appearance.

Veneers

Veneers are traditionally thin layers of Porcelain placed over the surfaces of teeth, similar to how a false nail sits on a nail. They are excellent at correcting minor irregularities in teeth such as a chip, an inset tooth, gaps, or discoloured teeth.

Veneers give a beautiful natural look to teeth, and are usually the treatment of choice for smile make overs.

The preparation and requirements of each case is different, you may require one or several veneers with some or no tooth removal to achieve the most aesthetic result.

Tooth Coloured Filllings

At Madoc Dental Care the filling material of choice are natural tooth coloured fillings, as we appreciate the importance of a natural looking smile and appearance.

There is also an opportunity to replace existing silver fillings. As well as preventing that ‘grey’ colour when you smile, the tooth coloured fillings are healthier for your teeth as they preserve more of your natural tooth. The material can also be used to correct minor irregularities in front teeth, and mask discoloured teeth.

Orthodontics Invisalign ®

Invisalign® is the clear alternative to braces. It is a series of removable custom made aligners that straighten your teeth, as you change them every two weeks.

Before you embark on this journey you have the opportunity to see what the end result will aim to look like. This is great motivation, as you can monitor the changes as you go, facilitated with a new app for your mobile.

The Invisalign® system is different to the traditional methods of straightening teeth, as there are no wires or metal. This makes them difficult for others to see, and as the aligners are removable it also means you can take them out to keep good oral hygiene and enjoy your meals.

Teeth Whitening

At Madoc Dental Care we appreciate the importance of feeling good about your self and the impact a beautiful bright white smile can have on your confidence. Teeth whitening is a safe and effective procedure that will make your teeth several shades lighter, and in a majority of cases it is the only treatment you need to give your smile that little extra you are looking for.

Teeth can loose their natural brightness and colour over time influenced by smoking, drinking tea, coffee and red wine. This in turn can affect the overall appearance of a smile and self esteem. At Madoc Dental Care the practitioners are fully trained in using the only teeth whitening system in the world to guarantee a B1 shade – Enlighten. There are a number of enlighten products available, so book for a complimentary consultation for advice.

Will teeth whitening damage my teeth?

No, at Madoc Dental Care we only use whitening products that contain the legally allowed concentration of bleach that does not remove any tooth structure or cause adverse effects. In a minority of cases teeth whitening can cause some temporary sensitivity, however our highly trained professionals will advise you regarding this and highlight your risk.

Please note, it is illegal for non-dental personnel to sell teeth whitening products. What they sell you has a risk of causing permanent damage to your teeth and blistering your gums.

How long will the whitening process take?

Generally it will take two weeks to get to the desired result, however in some circumstances it may take longer.

Is teeth whitening permanent?

Results are long lasting, however it does depend on an individual’s smoking habits, food and drink intake that can re-stain the teeth. Maintenance is simple once the initial treatment is completed by occasionally refreshing the whitening for one night. Once you have the trays you can buy top up whitening products from Madoc Dental Care.

Will tooth whitening work on false teeth?

No, the whitening product will not work on porcelain crowns, implants or acrylic teeth. A thorough dental exam prior to whitening will identify if you have any of these and the dental professional will inform you.

I want teeth whitening, what is the next stage?

Contact Madoc Dental Care to book in with the highly trained dental care professional either the dentist or Hygienest for a complimentary consultation.

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding can be placed into two categories depending on how much tooth is being covered. Full coverage is a composite veneer and partial coverage is commonly known as ‘edge’ bonding.

Both treatments are excellent non-invasive ways to achieve that smile you have always wanted. Generally the treatments involve no tooth cutting, no injections and is all done in one visit. Combined with a course of teeth whitening, you really can achieve an incredible result.

HYGIENE & PREVENTION

At Madoc Dental Care our priority is to improve and maintain our patients long-term oral health, with the belief that prevention is better than cure, we both educate and treat.
